James B. Aswell Jr. was a novelist, syndicated columnist, political writer, and Louisiana State Director of Public Relations (1940-1942) from Natchitoches, La. His father, James B. Aswell Sr. (1869-1931), was Louisiana's State Superintendent of Schools (1904-1908), unsuccessfully ran for governor of Louisiana in 1912, and served as representative for the 8th U.S. Congressional District of Louisiana between 1913 and 1931.
